Gender representation in advertising

 1) Find three adverts featuring women that are from the 1950s or 1960s. Save the images to your Media folder as jpegs and then import them into your blog post. Hint: You may wish to look at car, perfume or cleaning products but can use any product you wish.






2) Find three adverts featuring women that are from post-2000. Save the images to your Media folder as jpegs and then import them into your blog post.




3) What stereotypes of women can you find in the 1950s and 1960s adverts? Give specific examples. 

Stereotypical women that can be found in 1950s and 1960s adverts are that women are house maids and should be expected to do the chorus like cooking and cleaning. Also they are expected to take care of the children while their husband goes to work to earn money making them seem weak and fragile.

4) What stereotypes of women can you find in the post-2000s adverts? Give specific examples.

Stereotypes of women that can be found in post-2000s adverts are that they are made to be seen as weak and should look 'fit' or what the society views and thinks what women should look like.

5) How do your findings suggest representations of gender have changed over the last 60 years?

The findings suggest that the representation of gender has changed a lot over the last 60 years. However their are hidden aspects which show that stereotypes still exist even though they are not partially visible.
