Camerawork and editing analysis

 1) Pick three camera shots from the scene and explain what type of shot it is and what meanings or effect they have on the audience.

at 0:55, it shows a long shot where a women is sitting in her chair and facing her computer. This has the effect of telling us more about the background which helps us work out where she might be and what she might be doing.

A close up is seen at 2:06 where a boy is speaking. His facial expression can tell us the emotion he may be feeling, which makes us work out what situation he is in.

Around 2:19, we are presented with a over-the-shoulder shot where a conversation is happening. This indicates that their trying to inform the other person of some important information.

2) Pick one camera angle that is used in the scene and explain the effect it has on the audience.

A high angle shot is shown at 3:29, where a man is standing next to a really tall machine. This indicated that the man is being shown as weak compared to the powerful looking machine.

A second of a low angle is shown at 3:19, it presents a women looking at a sophisticated computer. This implies that she is all-mighty and has the knowledge to be able to operate the computer.

Another example of low angle shots appears at 2:28, at this time you can identify a man saluting towards a different person. This empathises that he is paying respect to his boss while also being in a high position like a right-hand-man.

3) Pick one aspect of camera movement in the clip. Identify the type of camera movement and write about why the director chose to use that camera movement in the scene and what effect it has on the audience.

A bit before 2:44, the Doctor who video displays a whip pan. I believe the director chose to use this camera movement to create a feeling of drama and fast movement. This could make the audience feel rushed as the people in the scene are doing their actions in a fast pace.

4) Pick one aspect of editing in the clip and write about what it tells the audience.

From 2:42 onward, the pace of the video spends up. this tells the audience that the action has just started, changing the whole experience for the audience.
