Introduction to Magazine cover conventions

 1) List the three most important magazine cover conventions in your opinion and explain why for each one.

One of the most important magazine cover conventions is slogan this is because it is able to catch the audience attention and be able to intrest them in on the magazines topics. Another important magazine cover conventions is free offer, I believe this because it's a simple way to attract viewers who wouldnt would give up the chance of gaining free items. A final convention  that may be important is direct address & asking questions because it makes the audience feel special and happy as the magazine company are asking about their knowledge.

2) Identify as many of the magazine cover conventions as you can and write a list of where they appear on this cover of Closer. As an extension, you could also write about the preferred reading for the convention - what the magazine is trying to communicate to the audience.

One magazine cover convention is Title of publication we can see this is placed on the top third of the magazine as the lettering is bold and white placed upon a bright pink background making sure it is easily seen.

Slogans- in the right bottom corner summarising the whole magazine and it's topics.

Flash- text appears all around the magazine giving an idea of all the gossip.

Free offers- and offer of '20% off at peacocks' is displayed at the side of the magazine with a pink background to catch the attention of the audience.

Colour scheme- there is a strict colour scheme of white pink and yellow for the text and most of the background to give off a more feminish magazine vibe.

Bar code, date and price- the bar code is visible is the right corner of the magazine where the date and price are also placed so it is clear for the audience to see.
