2) What is the font choice used on the cover and what does this choice connote? Here's a blog to help you with this as we haven't been able to complete the Photoshop typography lesson yet due to Covid-19.

The font used is San Serif a quite modern and informal typography used to give out gossip to the public. 

3) How do the cover lines appeal to the Reveal target audience?

The cover line appears to attract young people were they can access the latest gossips on their favourite celebrities that weren't seen in interviews.

4) What are the connotations of the Reveal colour scheme on this particular front cover?

The dominant colours are red pink and yellow connotating femininity, romance and happiness. 

5) How are images used to create interest in the magazine? Find three reasons for your answer. (E.g. mise-en-scene such as props, costume and make-up, body position, facial expression).

Images are uses to create interest in magazines by having clothes that fit in with the trend another reason is being able to get the newest phone or a expensive product that everyone is aiming to get and the position your facing can make the audience feel as if your interacting with them.

6) What differences can you find between the use of design and typography between Tatler and Reveal? List at least three and explain the effect on audiences

Tatler uses Serif while reveal uses San serif- the effect of the audience in that Tatler aims for higher class people who are into olden tradition and are quite posh however Reveal goes for the majority of the public who follow gossip and celebrities

Tatler central image Reveal multiple images-  Tatler wants to focus on one image to show the neat and tidy magazine while Reveal has pictures of gossip everywhere showing how much there is to reveal.

1) What type of celebrities appear on the front cover? How are they represented in Reveal? (Positive? Negative? Reinforcing or challenging stereotypes?)

Celebrity's with scandals appear on the magazine cover, in reveal they are presented in a negative way as they show their personal love life without permission.

2) How are women represented on the cover of Reveal? Think about both images and cover lines here.

Women are presented as mischievous and rebellious as they try to get their own wat this can be shown by both the images and cover lines as it presents them as ditching diets for deserts and dating in secret.

3) How do Reveal and Tatler represent social class? (E.g. middle/upper class and working class)

Tatler represents upper class as posh and rich were they are able to live in comfort and afford anything they desire. On the other hand Reveal presents the middle and working class as desperate for celebrate gossip so they can keep themselves entertained and use word of mouth to spread rumours. 

4) What would be the preferred and oppositional readings to this cover of Reveal?

A preferred reading of Reveal is that it contains a lot of information that women in their 20s or 30s read and extract the gossip believing that it could change a celebrities career. However a oppositional reading is that the photos are photoshopped to look read and the cover lines are made up as well as fake to attract audience 

Social and cultural context

1) What aspects of British life are reflected in Reveal? How does this compare to Tatler?

British aspects that have been reflected in Reveal magazine are celebrities secretly dating which can link to other british people. This compares to Tatler as Reveal is more focused on most of the population in Britain who are living a quite normal life as others do. However, Tatler is concentrated on more posh and rich people who live their life to the fullest with luxuries, exposing their true desires.

2) What do the cover lines in Reveal suggest about the issues and lifestyle of Reveal readers?

The cover lines in Reveal suggest that the lifestyle of Reveal readers are hopeles in romance or need to read something to have comfort of love as they are inexperienced about relationships and hope to be part of one.

3) Find three other front covers for Reveal. What issues or features regularly appear in Reveal? 

Features that regularly appear for the front cover of Reveal are that the title of publication is always in the top third, the magazine is based off of romantic matters mostly for women around their 20 and 30s to read and their are multiple coverlinesplaced all around Reveal magazine giving a sneak peek of what the subject may be about.
