Advertising: Key conventions
1) What key conventions of print adverts can you find and what are the connotations or deeper meanings of each convention?
The background/setting is showing the sky which presents to us that the product is closer to heaven showing how special and unique this product is.
The colour scheme also gives off the same vibe as it contains alll the colour of the rainbow reminds people or audience if their happy childhood and the times they have the most fun.
The slogan 'taste the rainbow' implies that the producer wants the consumers to imagine the taste of skittles manipulating them to buy th product. This also makes the audience feel like their being thrown back into their childhood which they would have missed dearly.
The logo 'Skittle' is in a bold white san -serf which connotes a more modern appearance to most of the population attracting more attention as it appeals to them and stands out aside from the bright colours which carries the advert.

The background/setting might appeal to the audience as it makes them feel safe in the sky.
The rainbow colour scheme might appeal to the audience as it makes them feel like a child again making them feel a pleasure of happiness.
The slogan 'taste the rainbow' appeals to the audience as it make is their mouth water and imagine the sensational tased that could make them think their eating a rainbow.
The logo appeals to the audience as it sounds like a unique name and the white bold font is seen as diffrent to the rest of the advert and to other similar products.
3) What is the USP (unique selling point) for Skittles and how do you know?
The unique selling point is where the skittle company how gone beyond and very creative to be able to implies a rainbow into the advert making them seem special and intelligent as it is able to attract many diffrent people giving the impression that anyone is able to access such extraordinary sweets that could make them feel such a happy sensation of childhood.
