1) What is a convention of a magazine cover? Give an example from Tatler. [2 marks]

A convention of a magazine cover is title of publication we can see this is the Tatler magazine as the title 'Tatler' is placed in the top third of the magazine making it clear for the audience to read.

2) How does the front cover of Tatler use media language to appeal to its target audience? [6 marks]

The front cover of Tatler usage of media language appeals to its target audience by using serif font. This can be shown by the cover line which is 'Tatler' and is placed in the top third of the magazine to be seen clearly. This makes their target audience appealed to the magazine as it gives off a deluxe look. Tatler magazines seem to also use sophisticated language that engages audience with the magazine. Their are texts placed around the magazine giving us a brief summary of what's inside Tatler magazines this intrigues the audience to find out more information. This makes Tatler target audience engrosses in the magazine as its the type of context they may prefer to read and enjoy.

Tatler media language appeals to its target audience by also having a central image to stand out from the other magazines. This is shown by Tatler main image of a 'perfect' women who is positioned to face the audience while seeming as if she's making eye contact directly. These actions make the audience see her as flawless and quite confident while also giving off a feeling as if her attention is placed upon the audience making them feel special. Tatler magazine uses a strict colour scheme to make it seem simple but luxurious. This is shown by the colours of  pink, green and gold used throughout the front cover to give off a natural and female look.

3) How does the front cover of Reveal magazine represent female celebrities? [12 marks]

The front cover of Reveal magazines represents female celebrities in a negative way as they are seen to be obsessed in finding a boyfriend/husband. This can be seen by female celebrities dating a lot of different men making the audience feel as if  their fooling around and not treating them with respect. As well as this the front cover doesn't present them as successful but focuses more on the dram in their relationships. This is seen by multiple headlines with scandals involved and not mentioning the awards won my the female celebrities. This make the audience believe that these female celebrities are only famous due to the fact that they've dated many famous people and that they don't deserve the attention.

However, the front cover of Reveal presents female celebrities in a positive way as it is shown that they have homes and a normal life like the rest of us. This is shown by them committing to their daily life giving the audience the interpretation that they are no different from celebrities and that their not enormously special. The front cover displays the typical idea of women becoming mothers and having children in a family. This is revealed by the paderaites pictured of female celebrities who have become pregnant. This makes the readers associating the female celebrities with a family suspecting that they did the right thing.

The front cover of Reveal magazine also represents female celebrities negatively due to their being a white centric in female celebs. This can be shown by all of Reveal magazine covers containing the same race and ethnicity giving the audience an idea of what the world sees women as making them feel disappointed and angry. Additionally, the front cover has a lot of tension about female celebrities being in a relationship and ending up in scandals. They have been many news articles about scandals between celebrities mostly females. These articles make the audience blame the female celebrities and gives them a bad background no matter if the article may be true or false.
