End of Year 1 exam: Learner Response

1) Type up your feedback in full (you do not need to write mark/grade if you do not wish to).

WWW-The first three questions are really strong and if you can read a similar level in the 20-marker essay you will be in a great position.

EBI-Revise narrative theory (could have added to 1.2)                                                                                      -Q2 needs more depth and details particular in terms of Doctor Who. Try and use more media terminology too.

2) Question 1.1 asked you what intertextuality is. Write out the definition of intertextuality - you may need to look it up in your glossary or Media book if you're not sure.

Intertextuality is when one media text reference another media text.

3) Look at your answers for 1.2 and 1.3. Did you ONLY write about the clip shown in the exam? How can you improve your answers in these questions?

In question 1.2 and 1.3 i only wrote about the clip shown in the exam. However, i could improve by adding some narrative theory in question 1.2 as it was the question i struggled the most on.

4) Look at your answer for question 2 - the 20-mark essay. Did you write about BOTH Doctor Who and Class and give examples from both CSP episodes we have studied? How could you improve your answer here?

In Q2 i wrote about both Doctor who and Class as well as giving examples from the CSP episodes we studied. I could improve this question by putting more depth and detail in my paragraph while referencing to media terminology.

5) Are you happy with your End of Year 1 exam result?

I believe my End of Year 1 exam result is okay but i hope the next time i attempt paper 2 i am able to get a higher grade.

6) What will you do differently for the next set of mock exams in November/December?

For the next set of mock exams i will revise more media terminology and narrative theories so i will be able to write answer's for the questions in detail.

7) Write THREE things you need to revise or practice before your next TV assessment (e.g. note taking, CSPs, media theories, terminology etc.)

Three things i need to revise/practise before my next TV assessment would be media theories, media terminology and note taking.

8) What final overall grade do you hope to achieve in GCSE Media Studies this time next year?

This time next year i hope that in my GCSE Media Studies i achieve an overall grade of 8 but i hope that i improve my skills and knowledge leading me to aim higher towards a grade 9.
