Statement of Intent feedback and Learner Response

 1) Read your feedback carefully and then write a summary of it in your own words using WWW / EBI.

WWW: This is a clear statement of intent with a good idea for a TV drama sequence that meets the science fiction/fantasy genre brief. Media language is a strength with a range of clearly planned shots and what they will communicate to the audience. More on audience and representation could push this to the top levels.

EBI:

• There’s a little too much narrative development – keep this to just a sentence or two so you are not using too many words on description. In fact, your opening paragraph in general could be sharper. Perhaps use bullet points to get across the main aspects of the show without using too many words?
• I would look to improve the section on representation – I like the way you plan to subvert stereotypes but offer a bit more detail here including how you are going to do it.
• Similarly, try and add a little more on audience – maybe using audience pleasures (e.g. U&G theory) or other shows your audience would enjoy.

2) Do you need to make any changes to your narrative? Why?

Changes need to be made in my narrative as I have too much developed in my first paragraph as well as too many descriptive words. It should be more sharper and this can be done by putting it into bullet points.

3) How can you improve the use of media terminology in your Statement of Intent?

I Can improve this by specifying each and every media terminology and adding more detail.

4) Representation and stereotyping was a weakness in some drafts. How will you address the key concept of representation in your next draft?

In my next draft, I will add extra information about stereotypes which will both be subverted and reinforced by my diverted characters.

5) Finally, think about audience. Why would the target audience (teenagers and young adults) enjoy your TV drama concept?

Teenagers enjoy the concept of mystery and action which are both presented in my TV drama and will be interested to continue watching.
